Beethoven, Rachmaninoff & Conneson

January 2025

The second January 2025 ARIAS event with bus transportation is on Friday, January 31st. It is part of the Florida Blue Classical Series and features the music of Beethoven and Rachmaninoff, along with a piece by French composer Guillaume Conneson. It will be conducted by internationally acclaimed guest conductor, Michael Stern, son of violinist Isaac Stern.

The program opens with Conneson’s Flame Writing, a piece that pays homage to German classical music and Beethoven – in particular Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. This is followed by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Opus 92, a piece that has connections with France due to its ‘military’ motifs in the French orchestral style of the day. The evening concludes with Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, Op. 45, the composer’s last complete score, and a piece notorious for challenging string passages. Further details can be found at  https://www.jaxsymphony.org/beethoven-rachmaninoff-program-notes/. Your symphony tickets for this concert can be purchased at https://my.jaxsymphony.org/beethoven-rachmaninoff/3540.

The ARIAS bus picks up passengers at two Nassau County sites – AMC Theatre in Yulee and Harris Teeter on Amelia Island. It delivers you to the doorstep of Jacoby Hall in plenty of time for the concert. The return trip is equally convenient, taking all the worry out of parking and night time driving for the trip to Jacksonville.

Bus tickets can be purchased at ariasnassau.org/bus, where you will find further information about the price, pick up locations and ARIAS membership discounts/rebates. Bus tickets are not refundable, but can be transferred to another rider for the night of the trip. Once again, if you know that you wish to ride the bus, please don’t delay in purchasing your ticket, as we need to confirm with the bus company the week prior to the concert.

Keep in mind that the bus ticket is separate from your concert ticket, which you can get through the links to the Jacksonville Symphony’s website, above, or through their box office at 904-354-5479.
